Tim Iliaens                                                                                                                             back

Hi, my name is Tim.I was born on 12th February 1981 in Leuven.I have a Bachelors degree in Physical Education, diploma obtained at GROEP-T Leuven Educational School.

I started my Martial arts in French Boxing, Savate. I practiced it for about 6 years.

I learned good techniques and combinations but it wasn’t enough for me. It did not give me the satisfaction I was looking for something that was missing…

So I started one day with traditional Thai boxing, Muay Thai and Kickboxing at Defcross-Flemish Academy of Martial Arts, I believe it was in the year 2000.
In those styles I had the feeling I had finally found what I was looking for…
The kicking and boxing I already knew, but now I could use my knees and elbow also! I learned how to clinch; I learned the Wai Krhu, etc.

I was sold on those styles of Martial Arts.

During my education in Bachelors degree in Physical Education, I studied the Muay Thai and the history of the Muay Thai. I can only say that my interests only got bigger than before. The rich culture of the Thais can only amaze you…

Since Defcross-Flemish Academy of Martial Arts started with a belt system, one of my purposes is to get a belt as high as possible.  Now I have a brown belt, only black to go!

I don’t often take part in a competition; it’s not a must for me.

Since I got my blue belt, I had to give some lessons to get my initiator-level. So I did some teaching…

Usually I teach the Muay Thai classes on Monday. I like doing that, because it gives me more satisfaction when I see somebody that learns something thanks to me.

When you teach something, you also think much better about some techniques or combinations.

At this occasion I want to thank Defcross-Flemish Academy of Martial Arts, in particular Joffrey Hion and Guy Lemmens, for teaching me everything I already learned from them!

Thanks!
